Finally got back beginning last Thur and today makes four days since then. Did cardio for 20, 20, 20 and 25 minutes today on the elliptical and ran the 'ole heart' up to 150+ at the end of each session. I'm going to do some machines Tue, back to CV on Wed, machines Thur and CV on Friday this week. Thinking about playing a round of golf on Sat this week. Haven't played in a couple of weeks because of the 'steamy temps'.

Finished my week with a Saturday sweat (five all together for the week, off Sun and Mon). Hope to pick up one while at Tom's on Tue at his 'workout facility' in the old Studio. I'm sure my efforts while in NY will be sketchy at best for a few days. Billy, you're doing GREAT..... be careful with the 'starts'. Tiano is a beautiful lil bug-gar!! Wonderful to see Tom and Kris and their families.

Last week was six consecutive 'sweat' days....20 minutes on the elliptical or better each day. This week Mon, Wed and today (Fri and Sat too) will be the same routine. My average and maximum heart rate is improving .... trending downward.
Tuesday, I went to the arthropod to discuss my varying muscle, bone and connective tissue issues. As a result of the 12-12-12 accident, I have apparently sustained permanent loss of some percentage of extension in my right arm at the elbow and a rather significant loss of right turn rotation of my head. I've DC'd my ibuprofen pain management routine (1600mg per day) so to more accurately determine the location and intensity of my current residual pain; predominately in the cervical spine, shoulder, elbow and reticular impact in my hands (numbing). I may either re institute the pharmacological pain management (with kidney monitoring) and/or try the inject able method in the cervical region (Epidural Steroid Injections ... ESI). BTW, this physician injected my SI joint with pretty good results prior to my European vacation so I have confidence in him. He uses 'fluoroscopic guidance' when he does his epidural injections to assure accuracy. Stay tuned....
Oh yes, my weight has not responded very much to date but I must admit to also not reducing intake.

Surprise, Surprise .... Went to the gym both Thurs and Fri and did a 20 minute cardio on the elliptical two days in a row (three times this week!!). About the same heart rate data each time. I'm going to keep the same duration for one more week, then if the knee holds up, move the duration up a bit each week with a target of a 30 minute cardio each workout. Resistance work is still 'on hold' for now.

Well here I am again, a week later. I know, I must commit and I will! Did another 20 minute 'cardio' on the elliptical. Beginning with a pulse of 88, I had a 10 minute pulse of 128, a 15 minute pulse of 136 and a 20 minute pulse of 155. No resistance work yet.
My left knee is bothering me; with aching pain every step, and an occasional sharp pain now and again. I will be asking the 'orthopod' what can be done short of surgery. When I had the 'vesco supplementation' done, they injected me with all three shots from the 'lateral' side (pain is medial) and I will explore the possibility of a 'redo' from the medial side. And if that's not seen as possibly helpful, I'll ask what short term 'pain abatement' procedure might be administered a day or two before our departure to Europe (7/11) such as a 'corticosteroid' injection. Having had many of those, I know it will only last a few weeks at best, but that might at least be sufficient to minimize the pain and make possible normal or near normal ambulation during our trip ...... stay tuned.

Well, guess who's back? ME!!! Joined and visited the gym today. Only did a 20 minute cardio on the elliptical with a average HR of 130 and a Max of 147, but at least it's a beginning. I'm going to try to get to the gym at least 3 times this week but keep my efforts to 'cardio' for a while anyway. I may add a couple days of 'resistance' next week.... we'll see. Didn't feel terrible .... tomorrow I may feel different.

Am going for 'vesco supplimentation' shots (3) in the knee and having an MRI of the shoulder. Road rash pretty much healed but scar remains in three location. Played golf twice and shoulder hurt each time but hip seemed to be OK.
Back to the gym this week (Mon-Wed-Fri) and began a somewhat 'watered down' return. Monday I did a 20 minute cardio (elliptical) followed by a couple stations of resistance work. Wed I just did a 25 minute cardio period and Friday I completed a 30 minute elliptical followed by some cable chest and back work. I felt that the 30 minute cardio went pretty well (Max bpm = 143) and in the coming week, I think I'll try to complete a 30 minute cardio all three days and do as much resistance as I have juice for..... at least two body parts each time. Stay tuned........

Saw the 'orthopod' today and she did a thorough examination (x-rays, physical manipulation, etc) and injected my left knee and right shoulder. We still may need a MRI for the shoulder.... she said to call her in two weeks and advise her how the 'corticasteroid' was working for me and it I still experience pain and restricted range of motion, she'll order the MRI and see me again there after. Looks like more 'pain management' and possible surgery. Time will tell. Oh yes, she said no gym for a few days and then I may experiment once again. Maybe Friday.

OK .... Went back to the gym and did an 'evaluation' both cardio and resistance. Tried the eliptical and my left ankle and knee bothered me quite a bit. Didn't go very long. Next I tried to do my usual resistance stuff at the six stations and found that my shoulder strength was much reduced and my range of motion was also limited. This make my resistance work very limited. Seeing the 'orthopod's PA' today and will go from there. Tried to swing a 'golf club' yesterday and met with much pain and again, limited range of motion ..... NO BIRDIES!! actually, didn't complete the round but we'll give it some more time.
